Irene Tripp

Irene Kaehukai Tripp, 89, of Hilo died April 23, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hamakua, she was a retired housekeeper.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. May 8 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. service.

She is survived by spouse, Robert Tripp Jr. of Hilo; son, Henry (Keala) Tripp of Makakilo, Oahu; daughters, Joyce Johansen of Las Vegas, Charlene (Koli) Kauvaka of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Wanza (Fetuu ) Falevai of Kahuku, Maui, La Rue (Siotame) Lauaki of Laie, Oahu; 30 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elizabeth Paalua

Elizabeth “Libby” Naihe Paalua, 80, of Kohala died April 25, 2015, at home. Born Nov. 11, 1934, in Kohala, she was a retired bus driver for Bragado Bus Services and member of Kalahikiola Congregational Church in Kohala; North Kohala Seniior Citizens Club; Kohala Senior AC Club. Na Kupuna O Kohala – Moku O Keawe and Kupuna of Na Kalai Waa.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. May 9 at Kalahikiola Congregational Church, 53-540 Iole Road, Kohala, for a 10:30 a.m service. Cremation follows. Family requests aloha or casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by husband, Sylvester Paalua of Kohala; daughters, Nalani Okubo, Colleen (Scott) Henne, Blace (Edwin) Valenzuela, Elsie (Eric) Dela Cruz, Jan Paalua and Miu Lan Paalua, all of Kohala; son, Ryder Paalua of Kona; brothers, Robert (Daisy) Naihe and Joseph (Kathy) Carvalho, both of Hilo, Herbert Naihe of Ewa Beach, Oahu; sisters, Maggie Gonsalves of California, Gladys Berrios of Hilo; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Louisa Reff

Louisa Ann Kalaauala Nathaniel Reff, 55, of Hilo died April 27, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a dental assistant with Milton M. Fujiuchi, DDS and member of Haili Church, the Nakoas Softball Team and was a former paddler for the Kai Malia Canoe Club.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. May 9 at Haili Church for a 10 a.m. service, followed by burial at Homelani Memorial Park. Family requests aloha attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Erick Reff Jr. of Kapoho; daughters, Andrea Reff, Ericka Reff and Jericho Reff, all of Hilo; hanai daughters, Kaleimaile Robia of Lahaina, Maui, Leonani Nahooikaika of Haleiwa, Oahu; mother, Ann Nathaniel of Hilo; brothers, Marvin White, Glenn White, William Nathanie, Jr. and Jonathan Nathaniel, all of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

David Jardine

David Phillip Jardine, 73, of Hilo died April 19, 2015, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Lakewood, N.J., he was a chef and Navy veteran.

No services were planned.

He is survived by son, David (Theresa) Jardine of Keaau; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; two stepgranddaughters.
