HONOLULU — The Hawaii Senate has approved Linda Chu Takayama to lead the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

HONOLULU — The Hawaii Senate has approved Linda Chu Takayama to lead the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

Senators voted to confirm Gov. David Ige’s nominee on Tuesday.

Takayama most recently served as the executive director of the Honolulu Mayor’s Office of Economic Development. She has a law practice that specializes in regulation, government affairs, health, insurance and corporate business law.

Takayama previously served as Hawaii’s insurance commissioner. She also was formerly a deputy director of the State Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
