Galliardo “Jerry” “Gerry” Rosario Lukzen, 88, of Honolulu died March 24, 2015, in Honolulu. Born Dec. 28, 1926, in Hawi, he was a retired heavy equipment operating engineer in the construction industry.
Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. May 2 at Diamond Head Mortuary chapel for an 11:30 a.m. service. Inurnment will follow at 2 p.m. at Diamond Head Memorial Park. Condolences may be posted at diamondheadmortuary.net.

Marvin Naihe Sr.
Marvin Lee Naihe, Sr., 60, of Hookena died April 6, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 30, 1954, in Honolulu, he was a heavy equipment operator, worked as a ranch hand on the McCandless, Palani and Hoomau ranches and was a member of Operator Engineers Local 3.
Friends may from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 2 at the Honauanu Rodeo Grounds in Honaunau on the City of Refuge road for a celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Evelyn “Eve” Isabelle Ortiz, 74, of Kailua-Kona died March 23, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born on Oct. 17, 1940, she was a housekeeper at the former Kona Surf Resort, an attendee at the former Jupiter Laundromat, owner of Grandma Evelyn’s Child Care and member of Kalaoa Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. May 2 at the Big Game Fishing Clubhouse at Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
She is survived by husband, Erenio Ortiz of Kailua-Kona; sons, Erenio (Letty) Ortiz Jr., Jeff (Rosalie) Ortiz, Leroy Ortiz, all of Kailua-Kona, Alex (Sherry) Ortiz of Kona Paradise; daughters, Beverly (Jeremiah) Ortiz Sadumiano, Janet (Felimon) Acorda, both of Kailua-Kona; brother, Melvin (Brenda) Thomas of Honalo; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two aunts; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Buddy Kazuo Toyama, 65, of Kapaau died April 16, 2015, at his residence. Born Jan. 15, 1950, in Honolulu, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, hunter and fisherman.

Matsuyo “Thelma” Kawate, 93, of Hilo died April 6, 2015, at her residence in Hilo. Born May 12, 1921, in Hilo, she was the former proprietress of Kawate Seed Shop in Hilo and member of Hilo Hooganji Mission, Lower Kawailani Kumiai, Kamana Karaoke Club, Yamaguchi Kenjin Kai, Hawaii, and Hui Okinawa Club.
Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.
She is survived by son, Randy (Karen) Kawate of Hilo; daughters, Karen Moyer of Washington state, Laraine Yonemura of Honolulu, Maureen (Dean) Izuno of Texas, Pearl (John) Kawate-Sasaki of Hilo; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
