WAILUKU — A 63-year-old woman from Washington state was found dead in south Maui from an apparent drowning.

WAILUKU — A 63-year-old woman from Washington state was found dead in south Maui from an apparent drowning.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that Betty Colleen Drexler of Allyn, Washington, was found unresponsive floating in the water at Ulua Beach around 9:30 Tuesday morning.

Beachgoers pulled her from the water and attempted CPR while waiting for police and fire rescue workers.

Drexler was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say an autopsy is planned.
