HONOLULU — Honolulu police have launched a homicide investigation into the death of a 25-year-old motorcyclist who died after being struck in a possibly intentional hit-and-run.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser newspaper reports an autopsy did not immediately determine the cause of motorcyclist Keith Jantoc’s death on the H-1 freeway near Kunia.

Police are seeking the driver of a dark SUV believed to have been involved in the crash Wednesday night in the town-bound lanes. The damaged vehicle was recovered Thursday morning from a parking lot In Pearl City.

Jantoc died at a hospital where he was taken.

Honolulu police spokeswoman Michelle Yu says the case is being handled as a murder investigation based on information from witnesses. She says she cannot provide more information on the witnesses.
