HONOLULU — The Honolulu Fire Department says a 27-year-old woman is dead after apparently falling 500 feet from an east Oahu hiking trail.
Fire spokesman Capt. David Jenkins says firefighters on Friday found the woman about 500 feet below what’s known as the “puka” section of the Makapuu Tomtom trail.
Jenkins says it wasn’t a continuous drop from the ridgeline trail.
Jenkins says firefighters found her unconscious without a pulse after responding to a report of hikers in distress.
The woman was airlifted to a landing zone where she was pronounced dead.
