It’s going to be Jazz “Hawaiian style” this Saturday when guest vocalist Keahi Conjugacion joins the Volcano Art Center Jazz ensemble for Jazz in the Forest.

Conjugacion is a Na Hoku Hanohano, Hawaii Music Award and Grammy-nominated international jazz recording artist, and a member of the well-known Conjugacion family (Tony C and Brother Noland). She has traveled the globe doing tours in the U.S., Asia and Europe.

Conjugacion has a distinct musical personality that mixes a true jazz singer’s spontaneity and freedom with a reverence for the music of Hawaii and the blues stylings of the classic singers she loves so much, such as Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughn.

The two performances, which will take place at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., will feature Conjugacion on vocals; Junior “Volcano” Choy on keyboard and trumpet; Brian McCree on acoustic bass; and Bruce David on drums.

Tickets for the 4:30 p.m. performance are $15 for art center members and $18 for nonmembers. The 7:30 p.m. performance will be $18 art center members and $20 for nonmembers.

For tickets, call 967-8222, go to Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus, VAC Art Gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park or visit volcanoartcenter.org.
