A magnitude-3.8 earthquake was recorded about 51 miles offshore of Kailua-Kona early Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.
The earthquake, which had a registered depth of 10.7 miles, was recorded at 12:49 a.m. Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. It was centered 51 miles west-southwest of Kailua-Kona and 52 miles west of Honaunau.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue an advisory following the temblor. The USGS “Did you feel it” website had not received any reports of residents having felt the earthquake as of 6 a.m. Thursday.
