The Lions Club of Kona held its annual fundraiser auction Sunday at Hale Halawai. A live and silent auction were held and donors were treated to a Hawaiian buffet and entertainment by Konawaena Music Society. The Lions also presented a check for $1,000 to the DARE program (Drug Abuse Resistance Education). Money raised from this major fundraising event has allowed the community foundation to continue humanitarian projects in Kona including scholarships for graduating high school seniors, youth programs, senior programs and sponsorship of the Konawaena High School Leo Club. In addition, the Lions Club of Kona remains committed to the Hawaii Lions Eye Bank, provides vision and hearing screening to area elementary school students and responds to a myriad of other projects in the community.
