Community forum focuses on transportation issues
State Department of Transportation Director Ford Fuchigami will be the featured speaker at a Community Enterprises forum at 6 p.m. Thursday in the County Council chambers at West Hawaii Civic Center.
Widening and improving Queen Kaahumanu Highway between Honokohau Harbor and Kona International Airport will be discussed, as well as airport improvements, discussion of Kona International Airport gaining international airport status, Kawaihae Harbor improvements and the bicycle lanes on Queen Kaahumanu Highway. Fuchigami will be accompanied by other State DOT officials and there will be opportunity for questions from the audience.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and pupu and beverages will be served prior to the program, which is free and open to the public.

Parent teacher organization shows free movie
The Kealakehe Elementary School parent teacher organization will hold a free screening of the local documentary, “Ike: Knowledge is Everywhere.” at 6 p.m. Thursday in the school cafeteria.
