The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery featured artist for the month of April is potter and sand art artist Teresea Boswell.
Teresea Boswell came to the Big Island of Hawaii in 1990 and since that time she embraced the artisan movement in Hawaii and quickly saturated herself in the many potential mediums that were available. Her early experience exploring the local beaches provided her with the desire to combine the beach sand, sea shells, sea glass into sand art creations taking many beautiful shapes and fashions in forms of vases, lamps and candle holders. Her exquisite work has made their way into many homes around the world. Boswell and her family moved to Waimea in 1993, a wonderful place to raise a family. Boswell began experiencing ceramics at that time. She has enjoyed creating many wonderful creations highlighting the many beautiful leaves and ferns Hawaii has to offer, and imprinting them into her stoneware clays.
In 2009, Boswell founded the “Blue Sea Artisans Gallery, located at the Kona International Market, where she hosted a variety of local artists. In May of 2013, she turned the gallery over to its members and formed a true cooperative gallery, with nine original members and eight guest artists. The Blue Sea Artisans will host a featured artist’s reception for Teresea Boswell on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 1 – 4 pm at their gallery at the Kona International Market, north side of the Makai building, on 74-5533 Luhia Street, Kailua-Kona.
