The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery featured artist for the month of April is potter and sand art artist Teresea Boswell.
Boswell came to the Big Island in 1990 and since has embraced the artisan movement and saturated herself in the many potential mediums available. Her early experience exploring area beaches provided her with the desire to combine the beach sand, sea shells and sea glass into sand art creations taking many beautiful shapes and fashions in forms of vases, lamps and candle holders. Her exquisite work has made its way into many homes worldwide.
Boswell and her family moved to Waimea in 1993 and shortly thereafter began experimenting with ceramics. She has enjoyed creating many creations highlighting the leaves and ferns of Hawaii, imprinting them into her stoneware clays.
In 2009, Boswell founded the Blue Sea Artisans Gallery, located at Kona International Market, where she hosted a variety of local artists. In May 2013, she turned the gallery over to its members and formed a true cooperative gallery, with nine original members and eight guest artists.
The Blue Sea Artisans will host a featured artist’s reception for Boswell from 1 to 4 p.m. April 11 at the gallery. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
