The Hawaii House of Representatives on Monday recognized the Moon RIDERS robotics teams at Kealakehe High School and Iolani School for their work on the electrodynamic dust shield lunar project and partnership with PISCES, NASA, and Google Lunar Xprize.
In February, the group was selected to take part in an experiment involving electrodynamic dust shield technology that will be conducted on the surface of the moon by the end of 2016. The selected Hawaii students will be mentored by NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
The project came about through an agreement with PISCES and NASA to work on a Hawaii high school STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) project.
