The search committee for the next University of Hawaii athletics director has officially submitted its recommendation to UH Manoa Chancellor Robert Bley-Vroman.
Bley-Vroman convened the search in January after the resignation of current AD Ben Jay and over the past two months, the eight-person committee has reviewed applications, checked references and interviewed candidates.
“I would like to thank the search committee members for their hard work and dedication,” said Bley-Vroman. “I appreciate their efforts in evaluating the candidates for this extremely critical position, not just for UH but for the entire state. I’m confident that we will be able to name an athletics director that possesses the right combination of executive leadership skills and vision to guide and grow the program through these challenging times.”
Bley-Vroman is now reviewing the information provided and is scheduling interviews. A formal announcement on his selection for athletics director will be made by March 31. It will then go before the UH Board of Regents at the April 16 meeting for final approval.
To continue to protect the integrity of the process, there will be no public statements or interviews by UH officials regarding the AD search until the final selection is announced.
