Hawaiian Airlines fell to second among U.S. carriers in punctuality during January, the U.S. Department of Transportation reports.
Averaging an 85.5 percent on-time performance ranking during the month among the nation’s 16 largest carriers, Hawaiian Airlines came in second to Delta Airlines, which saw an 86.1 percent on-time performance during January, according to the department. Both exceeded the industry average for the month by more than 8 percentage points.
The department said Monday that 77 percent of domestic flights arrived on-time in January, up from 75 percent in December but down from 80.6 percent in November.
Besides Delta and Hawaiian, Alaska Airlines had the best ratings, while regional carrier Envoy Air had the worst.
About 2.5 percent of January flights were canceled among the carriers. Hawaiian Airlines saw 26 — or 0.4 percent — of its 6,440 scheduled flights canceled, according to the department.
