HONOLULU — The state Department of Land and Natural Resources is seeking applicants to serve on an advisory council for Kokee State Park.
The nine-member council advises the department on issues related to the management of Kokee and Waimea Canyon state parks.
Members are appointed by the governor, the House speaker and the Senate president.
Members must be residents of Kauai, serve in a voluntary capacity and have general knowledge in education, cultural resources, the environment or native plants, animals, and ecosystems.
Applications may be submitted online at https://boards.hawaii.gov/.
The council helps to update the master plan for the parks and manage leases in Kokee. Members also work to improve community education and cultural awareness of the park.
The department said Thursday several vacancies on the council need to be filled.
