Arthur Gonsalves

Services for Arthur “Ata” Gonsalves scheduled for March 14 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi have been postponed. A new date for the service will be announced at a later date.

Joseph Coit Jr.

Joseph Coit Jr., 76, of Hilo died March 6, 2015, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born May 15, 1938, in Kohala, he was a retired diesel mechanic at Yamada & Sons Inc. He was a Hawaii Army National Guard retiree and member of the Hawaii Classic Cruisers.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. March 18 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo for a 6 p.m. service. A committal service and burial will be held at 9 a.m. March 19 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Clara Coit of Hilo; son, Owen (Jodie) Coit of Hilo; daughters, Brenda Jo Ioane, Deborah (Patrick) Moniz, both of Hilo, Cindy (Darren) Naihe of Kona; brother, George (Kathleen) Coit of Keaau; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two aunts and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Moses Kaiawe

Moses “Moke” Kauwilaokalani Kaiawe, 75, of Honaunau died March 6, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 26, 1939, in Kahaluu, he was a heavy equipment operator for Koa Construction Co., J.M. Tanaka Construction Co., Keauhou Kona Resort Co., and Keauhou Kona Construction Corp. He was a coffee picker, a trustee of Pukaana Congregational Church and a member of the Kaiawe Ohana.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 21 at Makolea for an 11 a.m. service. Enter at the security guard station at the former Keauhou Beach Hotel. Alcohol is not permitted. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by sons, Andrew (Desiree) Kaiawe of Kailua-Kona, Glenn (Bonnie) Kaiawe of Honaunau; daughter, Tracey-Lynn Kaiawe of Honaunau; sisters, Fanny Duhaylongsod of Kapaa, Kauai, Elizabeth (Andrew) Bannister of Kealakekua, Lei Parker of Kahaluu; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tomokichi Taniyama

Tomokichi (Tom) Taniyama, 98, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 23, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 4, 1916, in Holualoa, he was a retired carpenter and a member of the Waiaha Kumi, Kona Hongwanji, Carpenter’s Union 745, Senior Bowling League, Kona Senior P&R League, and Friday Bowling Gang.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. March 21 at Kona Hongwanji in Kealakekua for a 5 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire worn be worn and flowers be omitted.

He is survived by wife, Sue Taniyama of Kailua-Kona; sons, Alan (Sharon) Taniyama of Holualoa, Terry (Cynthia) Taniyama of Kealakekua; daughters, Marsha (James) Boyle of Kailua-Kona, Sylvia (Michael) Martines of Honolulu; sister, Mitsue Miyamoto of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Clayton Pacheco

Clayton James Pacheco, 71, of Volcano died Feb. 27, 2015, at Tripler Army Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, he was a retired clerk for Pohakuloa Training Area, a former ambulance driver for the former Hilo Hospital, a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

He is survived by brothers, William Pacheco Jr. of Ohio, Walter Pacheco, Patrick (Loraine) Pacheco, both of Hilo, Abraham (Terry) Pacheco of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
