KANEOHE — A 20-year-old is critically injured after a police officer shot him on Oahu’s windward side. Two police officers were hurt when the man tried to run them over.

KANEOHE — A 20-year-old is critically injured after a police officer shot him on Oahu’s windward side. Two police officers were hurt when the man tried to run them over.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the officer shot the man while trying to make a traffic stop Tuesday.

One officer was struck when the driver moved the vehicle in reverse. The second officer was hit when the motorist drove forward. The suspect fled afterward.

KITV reports the Honda he was driving later collided with a Toyota truck in Kaneohe.

Witnesses saw him running away from the scene, limping and holding his leg. He was picked up by paramedics near a residential street.

Hawaii News Now reports the 20-year old driver was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center.
