HONOLULU — A former soldier testified she was 2 months pregnant when her sister and her sister’s boyfriend held her down and stabbed her in the living room of her Hawaii home.
Casey Ann Jones described the 2013 attack Wednesday during a trial against her sister, Jessica Lee Hinebaugh, and boyfriend, Michael Ayala.
Jones told the jury that at one point during the ordeal, Ayala said the knife they were using was too dull. While fighting for her life on the living room floor of her Mililani home, Jones said her assailants kissed.
The apparent motive for the attack was Hinebaugh’s resentment that Jones left home as a teenager, leaving Hinebaugh to suffer in an abusive environment, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser newspaper reported.
One of the stab wounds punctured Jones’ kidney. She gave birth in May.
State sheriff deputies stopped Hinebaugh and Ayala on Oct. 7 at Honolulu Airport.
