Yukie Chun
Yukie Chun, 88, of Hilo died Feb. 4, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 8, 1926, in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of Hilo United Community Church.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. March 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 4 p.m. service. A committal service will be held at 9 a.m. March 9 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by daughter, Sharon (Jeffrey Tanaka) Chun of Hilo; son, Rodney (Susan) Chun of Oregon; brothers, Shojiro Ishida of Hilo, Stanley (Corrine) Ishida of Honolulu; sisters, Joyce Nakano of Texas, Sueko Chinen, Emiko (Alvin) Wong, both of Honolulu; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Arthur Gonsalves
Arthur “Ata” Gonsalves, 84, of Hawi died Feb. 20, 2015, at his home. Born in Halaula, Kohala, he retired from the State of Hawaii and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. March 14 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi for a 10 a.m. Mass. A private committal service will be held at a later date. Family requests aloha attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by wife, Winnie Gonsalves of Hawi; sister, Irene (Jack) Wilhelm of Lihue, Kauai; daughters, I. Dede Caravalho of Hilo, Ekela (Keala) Kahuanui of Waimea; sons, Crawford Gonsalves of Kurtistown, A. Ikaika Gonsalves of Hawi; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Gordon Rice
Gordon “Captain Gordo” Wynn Rice, 65, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 20, 2014, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born Dec. 8, 1949, in Tacoma, Wash., he was a professional boat captain of commercial fishing, charter sport fishing, pleasure sailing and worldwide delivery of motor and sail vessels.
Service will be held at a later date.
He is survived by companion, Debbie Cummings of Kailua-Kona; brother, Pepe Prescott of Austin, Texas; hanai brothers, Fred Prescott and Brian Prescott, both of Santa Fe, N.M., Larry Prescott of California, Ricky Klampert of San Francisco; hanai sisters, Ellen Siewert of San Jose, Calif., Elaina Ackerman of Los Angeles; numerous nieces and nephews.

Margie Loftin
Margie Lee Loftin, 72, of Hilo died Feb. 24, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Akron, Ohio, she was a retired housekeeper for the Naniloa Hotel and numerous nursing homes.
No services are planned.
She is survived by hanai mother, Millie Maikai of Florida; brother, William Blondheim of Texas; sisters, Martha (Aaron) Maxwell and Louella Lewis, both of Ohio; hanai sister, Milly Pansy of Florida; many nieces and nephews.

Yaeko Kobata
Yaeko Kobata, 94, of Hilo died Feb. 8, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honokaa, she was a retired account clerk for the Hawaii County Planning Department and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Private services were held.
She is survived by son, Howard (Arlene) Kobata of Honolulu; daughter, Lois (Roque) Solmerin of Hilo; sister, Taeko Ikenaga of Honolulu; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Helen Embrey
Helen Embrey, 96, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 25, 2015. Born Feb. 11, 1919, in San Diego, she was a homemaker and attended Kona Nazarene Church.

She is survived sons, Michael (Connie) Williams of Palm Springs, Calif., David Embrey of Lanai; daughters, Melanie Gallagher of Kailua-Kona, Loretta Shea of San Diego; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Charles Howard II
Charles “Carl” Frederick Howard II, 42, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 8, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 28, 1972, in Syracuse, N.Y., he was a carpenter and builder, cartoon artist and illustrator.
