HONOLULU — Honolulu police say new license plates scanners are working well to help locate stolen vehicles.
KHON-TV reports the technology also has been used in investigations to look for suspects.
Lt. Dave Barnett says the scanners last year examined 1.6 6 million license plates.
Barnett says that of those vehicles, 109 were stolen. Also, 71 stolen plates were located.
Police first began using the scanners last year. The department has one scanner for each Oahu district.
