Congress should be term limitedd
Nobody wants to hear the words, “Our boat is taking on water.” But it seems like our federal government is putting us in this position. An interesting recommendation to fixing this problem is placing term limits on Congress. “Another case for term limits” (The Washington Post, Dec. 3) and The Liberty Amendments mention a 12-year limit might be what we need.
The 22nd Amendment was ratified in 1951, which limited the president to two terms in office. However, Congress did not institute term limits for their own seats. As a result, ambitious politicians have given us more than we can afford. Federal grants to state and local governments seem to be a pretty big hole in our sinking ship.
Hopefully, smart minds will fix these problems. When the tide rises, so do all ships, and I hope ours is on top.

Hawaiian cultural center in Honokaa would be great
National Historic Preservation status for Honokaa is good, but, the main hub of Mamane Street needs a great attraction to increase foot traffic for the businesses there. Many people in the area think a Hawaiian cultural center would be the right thing that the doctor would order.
Paradise Cove on Oahu has a lot of Hawaiian elements and it attracts as many as 10,000 people a night. The well-established Polynesian Center attracts up to 2,000 visitors daily. Thus a Hawaiian cultural center in Honokaa would do wonders for the social and economic fabric of Honokaa.
It’s a no brainer. Visitors, especially from Japan visit the Hawaiian Islands for the Hawaiian ambience and experience which is readily visible. Japan has more than 2,000 hula groups and the groups are definitely interested in the Hawaiian culture and heritage.
