LIHUE — A Kauai drug dealer has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The county prosecuting attorney’s office says Bridget Maile Lanning was sentenced Wednesday. She pleaded no contest to promoting a dangerous drug and a weapons charge. She also pleaded no contest to unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle in a separate incident involving hitting a woman sitting in her car.

When the 45-year-old Lanning was arrested last year on a warrant at the Kilauea Menehune Mart, officers found a loaded semi-automatic pistol and 7.5 grams of methamphetamine.

Prosecutors say her criminal history dates to 2002.

Prosecuting Attorney Justin Kollar says she is an example of how crystal meth destroys lives.
