Maui music superstar Willie K and comedian Rodney Villanueva are teaming up for a magical holiday experience, “O Holy Night,” tonight in the Crown Room at the Hawaii Naniloa Hotel in Hilo.
Doors open at 6 p.m. The show is from 7-10 p.m.
The show is part of Willie’s and Rodney’s “Raw” interisland tour.
Willie K played Pahoa’s Akebono Theater in July and brought the house down with his eclectic mix of Hawaiian, rock, blues and reggae, with a rendition of the opera classic “O Sole Mio” added for good measure. He said during that show he’s part of a hui with plans to turn the 350-seat Crown Room, once one of Hilo’s top music venues, into a nightclub.
While major renovations still need to be done to make that a reality, he and Villanueva plan on providing concertgoers “Hawaii’s biggest little holiday celebration.”
Willie will play selections from his two Christmas CDs, 1999’s “Willie Kalikimaka and 2010’s “Willie Wonderland,” including his signature rendition of “O Holy Night.” Other hits include “You Ku‘uipo,” “Katchi Katchi Music Makawao,” “Good Morning,” “North Shore Reggae Blues” and “Ho‘okipa Surf Song.”
General admission tickets are $41, cash only, available at CD Wizard and Music Exchange. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available.
