HAGATNA, Guam — Federal agents with the FBI and immigration enforcement will soon be working out of a new building in Tamuning.
Island and federal representatives participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 30,000-square-foot facility last week.
The building will house the FBI and two main areas of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Vida A. Leon Guerrero, of enforcement and removal operations, said the facility is likely to open at the start of the new year and will have “every resource possibly needed to deal with individuals who defy immigration law,” the Pacific Daily News reported.
The building has a larger holding area for those set to be deported.
It has four holding cells, each of which can hold as many as six people at a time, to be used while people are being processed or booked.
