HONOLULU — Four fishermen from Molokai have been indicted for allegedly boarding another fishing vessel and robbing and harassing the people on board.
The four men will be arraigned in Maui Circuit Court later this month, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources said Wednesday.
The alleged incident occurred in May. Hawaii News Now reports the Molokai men boarded a vessel visiting from Oahu.
The department says the men are charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and unauthorized first-degree entry into a motor vessel. They’re also charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and harassment.
They were released after they each posted $50,000 bail.
The vessel used by the four men was seized as evidence, the department said. A U.S. Coast Guard plane transported the boat to Maui.
“We will not tolerate community involvement in unlawful behavior,” William Aila, the department’s chairman, said in a statement.
