HONOLULU — The man suspected of crashing a pickup that killed one passenger and seriously injured four others has been indicted on counts of negligent homicide and leaving the scene of an accident without rendering aid.

An Oahu grand jury Tuesday indicted Kamealohanakekaiaulu Wilbur-Delima, 19, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.
According to prosecutors, Wilbur-Delima was driving north on the Farrington Highway with 11 passengers on June 15, 2013. Three people were in the front bench of the pickup, four were in the back seat of the cab and five were in the truck bed.
Witnesses told police the truck weaved and exceeded the speed limit before leaving the roadway and striking a concrete piling. The truck burst into flames.
The crash killed Zain Lalawai, 16. He suffered head and burn injuries, according to the Honolulu medical examiner.
Three girls, aged 13, 14 and 15, and a 16-year-old boy were taken by Honolulu ambulance to a hospital.
Wilbur-Delima fled from the scene, according to police. He turned himself in about 12 hours later. That was past the time his blood could be tested for alcohol, police said.
Wilbur-Delima was named in a lawsuit filed by the mother of one of the injured girls. She’s also suing the pickup owner and the owner of a Waianae home, claiming the teens were furnished alcohol before the crash.
Online court records did not list an attorney for Wilbur-Delima.
