Raymond Haleua
Raymond Kua “Hyman” Haleua, 88, of Hilo died Nov. 30, 2014, at his residence. Born July 8, 1926, in Honolulu, he was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and a veteran in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army.
Friends may call from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at Borthwick Mortuary, 1330 Maunakea St. in Honolulu for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests aloha attire be worn. Burial will follow at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park at 47-200 Kahekili Highway, Kaneohe, Oahu.
He is survived by son, Tali Haleua of Utah; daughters, Hokulani Pritchett of Utah, Tanya Haleua of Texas; hanai son, Ronald (Noni) Sanford of Hilo; sister, Julia (Frank) Ascobido of Waianae, Oahu; cousin, Samuel Ho Chee of Hilo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Masako Kuwaye
Masako Kuwaye, 94, of Hilo died Nov. 4, 2014, at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, Calif. Born March 13, 1920, in Honokaa, she was a homemaker and member of The Church of the Holy Cross, University Extension Club and Nohea Street Kumiai.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Dec. 12 at The Church of the Holy Cross, 440 W. Lanikaula St. in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.
She is survived by daughter, Elaine (Allan) Yin of Costa Mesa, Calif.; son, Allan (Amy) Kuwaye of Hilo; brother, Edmund (Eleanor) Kuwaye of Stockton, Calif.; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Ellen Tamaki Harano, 87, of Kealakekua died Nov. 4, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 10, 1927, in Fukuoka, Japan, she was a housewife and member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and Kingsley Kumiai.

Raedene E. Lorenz, 52, of Hakalau died Nov. 12, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 26, 1961, in Baltimore, Md.; she was a human resource manager for Life Care Center of Hilo and a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Waiakea Congregation.

Mildred “Millie” Morante, 79, of Keaau died Nov. 15, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 2, 1935, in Kapoho, she worked at numerous places including Mauna Loa Macademia Nut Corp., Pahoa Anthuruims and Floral Resource. She also was a member of the New Hope East Hawaii Church in Keaau.

Julia Kekinookalani Waechtler, 92, of Hilo died Oct. 24, 2014, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired head forelady with Castle &Cooke Dole Pineapple Cannery on Oahu.

James “Jim” Roderick Hunt, 69, of Kukuihaele died Nov. 14, 2014, at his residence. Born Aug. 3, 1945, in Portland, Ore., he was a retired teacher from Honokaa High School and the owner of Hamakua Hideaway Treehouse in Kukuihaele.

Herbert Oue
Herbert Kenso Oue, 89, of Kealakekua died Oct. 12, 2014, at his residence. Born June 20, 1925, in Kealakekua, he retired as factory manager for K. Oue Ltd., was a member of Kanaueue Kumiai and a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean conflict.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary offerings.
He is survived by brothers, Tatsumi Oue of Kealakekua and Francis (Claire) Oue of Keauhou; sister, Patricia Oue of Kealakekua; numerous nieces and nephews.

Sherry Roxanne Hare, 54, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 18, 2014 at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 24, 1960, in Honolulu, she was a caregiver.
