WAILUKI — Maui police say a 27-year-old Haiku man has been charged with kidnapping, robbery, assault and unauthorized entry into a car following an incident in a store parking lot last month.

WAILUKI — Maui police say a 27-year-old Haiku man has been charged with kidnapping, robbery, assault and unauthorized entry into a car following an incident in a store parking lot last month.

Police say Kingston Cayaban at about 8 p.m. Nov. 12 approached a man parked in a car outside a Home Depot in Kahului.

Police say Cayaban brandished a knife, entered the vehicle and demanded the man’s property.

The man accelerated and smashed into a barricade. Police say Cayaban jumped out of the car and fled.

Cayaban was arrested Thursday. His bail was set at $46,000.
