HAGATNA, Guam — An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday on the body of a fisherman who was found dead in in Merizo.

The Pacific Daily News reports the body of the 38-year-old man was found Friday at Achang Bay. Officials say the cause and circumstances surrounding the man’s death weren’t immediately known.

He had been fishing with a small group of people, but his body was found alone on the west side of the bay.

The man’s family identified the body after it arrived at Guam Memorial Hospital, but a spokeswoman declined to release the man’s name.
