A stolen vehicle has led to the arrest of a Puna man for multiple charges.

Early Wednesday morning, a 38-year old Hilo woman reported her 1992 Honda Accord had been removed from the parking lot of the Prince Kuhio Plaza parking lot.

Puna Patrol officers located and arrested 24-year old Daesyn Pacheco-Muragin of Kurtistown and recovered the stolen vehicle.

At the same time, Pacheco-Muragin was arrested in connection with other unrelated cases, including three counts of contempt of court. He was held at the Hilo Police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued their investigations. He went to court Thursday on the contempt charges and then was returned to the police cellblock.

At 5:42 p.m. Thursday, after conferring with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, detectives charged Pacheco-Muragin with second-degree theft, first-degree terroristic threatening, abuse of a family/household member, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, promoting a detrimental drug and two counts each of promoting a dangerous drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $15,250.

He was released into the custody of Hawaii Community Correctional Center pending his initial court appearance for those charges on Friday.

Pacheco-Muragin is being featured on an episode of “Hawaii Island’s Most Wanted,” which was prerecorded before his arrest.
