HAGATNA, Guam — The three Guam teens who died in a Thanksgiving weekend hit-and-run were inseparable and enjoyed watching movies and dancing, family members said.
Cherrica Gallen, 19, Saly Santos, 16 and Julia George, 16, were killed early Saturday.
The trio went on a beach outing Friday night before being dropped off at a subdivision known as Zero Down just before midnight.
Tire marks indicated a vehicle veered off the lane leading into the subdivision, Guam Police Officer A.J. Balajadia said. The vehicle likely was a Nissan, he said. No arrests have been made.
Gallen’s father, Bryan Gallen, told Pacific Daily News the families are thinking of holding joint rosary prayers in honor of the teens’ friendship. “They did everything together,” he said.
Cherrica Gallen was born in Guam to Pohnpeian immigrants. She recently graduated from high school and was making plans for college.
“I couldn’t even believe that somebody could have done that and ended her life like that,” her father said. “She was called too early.”
George’s mother, Lila George, described her as a neat freak who loved to clean. She was 3 years old when the family moved to Guam from Kosrae, said her father, Gibson George.
Santos was in middle school when she and her mother moved to Guam from Pohnpei after her father died, said Junia Hall, a cousin.
The three “loved hanging out, loved going to movies and loved dancing,” she said. Santos learned to dance hula as a child, said Anna Santos, her mother.
Two of the teens were pronounced dead after they were taken to Guam Memorial Hospital. The other died later Saturday.
