Honolulu Deputy Prosecutor Chastity Imamura says Faaolataga Kitiona was intoxicated Dec. 28 when his car crossed the centerline of Farrington Highway and crashed head-on into a pickup near the Kahe Point power plant in Nanakuli.
State Circuit Judge Richard Perkins set Kitiona’s bail at $25,000.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the crash killed 18-year-old Talofa Mene, her daughter Kawehikulani Ribeiro-Kitiona and 19-year-old Sagato Prince Segi. Kitiona was critically injured.
Two women and two girls age 14 and 3 were in the pickup. They were taken to a hospital in serious condition.
Kitiona was indicted on three counts of negligent homicide and one of negligent injury.
