HONOLULU — A company holding a contract to inspect work on the Oahu rail project has been purchased by a competitor awarded contracts to design pieces of the line.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports city officials are looking for ways to resolve conflicting contracts.
Los Angeles-based AECOM Technology Corp. last month completed its acquisition of San Francisco-based URS Corp. for $6 billion.
Honolulu Authority for Rail Transit director Dan Grabauskas says AECOM Technical Services has three design contracts totaling $99.2 million, including airport section rail stations.
URS was awarded a $63.1 million construction management contract to conduct construction engineering and inspection of the airport and town sections of the project.
Grabauskas says he contacted both companies to inform them that they need to address the conflict and explain their positions on it.
