Kahakai Elementary School council meeting planned

Kahakai Elementary School will hold a school community council meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the principal’s office. The agenda will include a financial review, school fiscal year report and electronic parent communication.

Culinary arts luncheon announced

Vietnamese cuisine will be featured at the University of Hawaii Center, West Hawaii culinary arts lunch Friday. The luncheons are held at 81-964 Halekii St. in Kealakekua in the courtyard of Building 4.

The meal includes green papaya salad on won ton chips, Bun Moc, Vietnamese meatball soup, Vietnamese caramelized shrimp with lemongrass, Jasmine rice and sauteed green beans, lilikoi sorbet with Banh Cam, starfruit juice, iced green tea and 100 percent Kona coffee.

Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $20 per person. Call JoeAnn at 969-8803 for reservations.

Elderly Recreation Services holds movie day

Elderly Recreation Services will be holding a free movie screening of “Julie and Julia” starring Meryl Streep at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Building A.

Seniors cancel meeting to attend movie day

Kailua-Kona seniors will not be meeting at Hale Halawai this week. The group will attend a movie shown by Elderly Recreation Services instead.

Thanksgiving meet and eat and golf tournament scheduled

The Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry announces the 22nd annual Meet and Eat Thanksgiving dinner from 5:15 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The public is invited to attend a free Thanksgiving meal at the Kealakehe Intermediate School Cafeteria.

The group will hold its first Thanksgiving golf tourney at 8 a.m. Nov. 29 at Makalei Golf Club. The entry fees are $150 per adult and $100 per youth. Adult and youth two-person teams are welcome. The no rules, better ball tournament will be a fun event for all ages.
