HONOLULU — The University of Hawaii is hosting financial aid workshops for Native Hawaiians to learn about applying for millions of dollars in scholarships.
The statewide effort is designed teach families in underserved communities about the opportunities afforded by college education.
The University of Hawaii’s President David Lassner says the institution is committed to increasing the participation and success of Native Hawaiian students across the university system.
Undergraduate student Justin Pagan says he wasn’t sure how he would pay for college when he graduated from high school. Now he’s grateful that he found alternative ways to finance his education.
The workshops have begun and are happening throughout the Hawaiian islands until December. They’re open to potential students, parents, educators and community members.
