PAHOA — A breakout from the June 27 lava flow was about 200 yards from Apaa Street as of Saturday morning, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense.
Other breakouts were active near the Pahoa cemetery and near the Pahoa transfer station.
Civil Defense said a breakout on the south side of the flow on Apaa Street is burning asphalt as it widens.
Smoke conditions were moderate to heavy with south winds blowing smoke toward the Ainaloa, Hawaiian Paradise Park and Keaau areas.
The county said the breakouts don’t pose an immediate threat to area residents.
Kilauea volcano has been erupting continuously for more than 31 years.
