The county prosecutor appeared Monday on “Wheel of Fortune,” and got more than his 15 minutes of fame.
Mitch Roth, the prosecutor, and Lee Lord, the business manager of the Prosecutor’s Office, won the show with a total of more than $44,000. The episode, part of best friends’ week, was taped on the Big Island.
As icing on the cake, a moment they took part in went viral online.
With only one “N” on the board, Lord guessed the answer should read “riding a brown horse.”
When Lord’s answer turned out to be incorrect, a pair of best friends from Kauai, Trinette Kaui and Audrey Bonilla, guessed “riding a white horse,” which sent host Pat Sajak offstage and the audience into fits of laughter.
“Who said anything about a horse?” Sajak asked when he returned.
A video of the moment has gone viral on YouTube, receiving 470,000 views.
“Trinette called me (Tuesday morning) and said, ‘Did you know we’re going viral?’ I said, ‘What?’” Bonilla said. “It was all over MSN, YouTube, Good Morning America, CNN — just tons of websites.”
“I’d rather be embarrassed by saying the wrong answer rather than saying nothing and regretting that it could have been the right answer,” Kaui added.
For the record, Roth finally solved the puzzle, “seeing a buddy movie.”
Ironically, in the bonus round, Roth and Lord were unable to come up with “authority figure.”
