HONOLULU — The Honolulu City Council may vote on a bill that would ban sitting and lying down on sidewalks in neighborhoods beyond Waikiki.
The council plans to take up Bill 48 Friday at noon. They say public testimony is complete and no new testimony will be allowed.
The group postponed voting on the bill Wednesday after several members complained they didn’t have enough time to read new amendments.
Some argued that the public also didn’t have a chance to digest the information, but they won’t get a chance to chime in this time.
The bill seeks to expand the sit-lie ban to pockets of Honolulu and areas outside the urban core like Kailua and Kaneohe.
The amendments primarily make changes to the specific streets that would be covered by the ban.
