Broadway star Nathaniel Hackmann flies directly from New York for the 13th annual Hoku Concert Series benefiting local performing arts organizations. The two exclusive concerts will take place in private residences in Kona and Mauna Lani. Today’s concert benefits the Aloha Performing Arts Company and on Saturday, the Kahilu Theatre is the beneficiary. The Saturday event is sold out.
“Few have the versatile voice of Mr. Hackmann. He has performed the role of Jean Valjean in ‘Les Miserables,’ as well as the role of Javert in that show,” said Frank Meyer, founder of Hoku Concert Series. Hackmann has been seen in Hawaii before in the national tour of “Beauty and the Beast” in the role of Gaston.
He will be joined by his wife, Nicole Begue Hackmann, who also has performed on the stages of musical theater, opera and concerts in productions that include “Carousel,” “Pirates of Penzance,” “Phantom of the Opera” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
