Marshall smacked 13 kills Friday night and Fuata finished with 12 as the Warriors outlasted Mililani 21-25, 11-25, 25-16, 25-11, 15-6 at Moanalua High in Honolulu to reach the Division I quarterfinals.
Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up Waiakea (13-4) will face top-seeded and defending state champion Kamehameha-Kapalama (15-0) at 7 p.m. Saturday at Moanalua.
Marshall was nearly flawless as the Warriors rallied from a two-set deficit, making only one error in hitting .414. Freshman Kayla Kahauolopua added nine kills, Hilei Ishii-Chaves had eight and Kakano Maikui had six.
Waiakea outdug the Trojans 85-74, getting 18 from Tiani Teanio, and it won the serve-receive battle with nine aces, including three by Kylee Ancheta.
Kristen Miguel led Mililani (11-3), the Oahu Interscholastic Association No. 3 team, with 16 kills.
Both BIIF teams in the field tangle with the powerful Interscholastic League of Honolulu on Saturday. While Waiakea draws the ILH champion, BIIF champion Kamehameha (15-0) takes on Punahou at 4 p.m. on Maui. The Buffanblu (12-3) swept Nanakuli 25-13, 25-15, 25-10.
Kamehameha-Kapalama and Punahou have accounted for the past 11 state championships.
