The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the 24-year-old homeless man took the car late Monday morning in Pearl City, drove a block and realized there was a 3-year-old boy in the car.
He stopped the car and tried to flee but was detained by a passer-by until police arrived.
The man was arrested on suspicion of kidnaping, theft and car theft.
