So far this year, there have been 944 DUI arrests, compared with 1,063 during the same period in 2013.
Kona and South Hilo officers arrested five motorists in each district while South Kohala officers arrested four. Three drivers were arrested by officers in the Puna district.
There have been 1,282 major accidents in 2014, compared with 1,116 during the same period last year.
So far this year, there have been 10 traffic fatalities on Hawaii Island, compared with 23 during the same period in 2013.
To date, three fatalities were related to drugs and three were related to a combination of drugs and alcohol. DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide, police said.
