The Blood Bank of Hawaii has planned blood drives in November for West Hawaii.
Drives are slated from 11 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Nov. 10 at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kona Stake Center cultural hall, 75-230 Kalani St.; 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Waimea Hawaii Ward, 65-1168 Kapiolani Road; and 7 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Nov. 12 at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kona Stake Center on Kalani Street in Kailua-Kona.
Donors must be in good health, at least 18 years old, or 17 with a signed Blood Bank of Hawaii consent form, weigh at least 110 pounds and present a valid photo ID including date of birth.

Halloween dinner slated at VFW Post
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12122 is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Friday at the post located at 74-5543 Kaiwi St, Cost is $5. At 6 p.m., Endless Summer will perform dance music and a costume contest will be held. The cover charge is $5. All proceeds benefit veterans in West Hawaii.

Historical society celebration slated
Kona Historical Society’s Kona Coffee Living History Farm will open the farm from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for a celebration honoring Kona’s coffee heritage. This free event offers many coffee farm-related activities including traditional food, baked goods and shave ice, Kona coffee tastings, farm-fresh fruits and vegetables to buy and taste, ojyame games for the keiki, visits with Charlie, the Farm’s Kona Nightingale, tours of the 1920s farm and farmhouse and more. Making a guest appearance will be Chef Sam Choy creating a Kona country lunch.
A shuttle will be provided by the Hawaii County Mass Transit Agency from Kealakekua Ranch Center starting at 9:30 a.m.
