Waikoloa man charged with attempted murder, preliminary hearing slated for November

Police have charged a 34-year-old Waikoloa man with attempted murder and other offenses for an altercation that turned violent in Waikoloa on Sunday night.

Police have charged a 34-year-old Waikoloa man with attempted murder and other offenses for an altercation that turned violent in Waikoloa on Sunday night.

At 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, 34-year-old Aaron Nakamoto of Waikoloa was charged with attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault and disorderly conduct, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

Nakamoto, who is accused of stabbing two 22-year-old Waikoloa women in a parking lot confrontation. Both women were treated for their injuries and released from North Hawaii Community Hospital.

During an arraignment and plea hearing held Wednesday, Nakamoto requested a preliminary hearing. That preliminary hearing will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 18 in South Kohala District Court. He is currently on supervised release pending that hearing.
