HONOLULU — University of Hawaii running back Joey Iosefa has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

According to police records, 23-year-old Iosefa was taken into custody at about 5 a.m. Sunday near downtown Honolulu. He was released after posting $500 bail.

University Athletic Director Ben Jay says he plans to meet with football head coach Norm Chow on Tuesday to determine how to handle the situation.

Jay says the university is gathering facts about the incident to determine how to proceed in the best interest of “Joey, the team and University of Hawaii.”

The arrest comes after the Rainbow Warriors beat Wyoming 38-28 on Saturday after a two-game losing streak.

Iosefa couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. A court date is scheduled for Nov. 10.
