HONOLULU — The state of Hawaii is planning to require boaters to complete safety courses.
KHON-TV says that boat operators will have to show proof of completing an approved safety course, starting Nov. 10.
The law was signed in November 2012. However, a two-year delay was allowed before it became effective.
Boaters violating the law could face fines of up to $1,000.
They also could face up to 30 days in jail.
