Mahalo for bringing super PACs to light

Thanks to the Supreme Court decision that allows unlimited campaign contributions, this group has received its funding from the Hawaii Carpenters Market Recovery Program — $260,529 as of Aug. 9 — to work to sway public opinion of Hawaii Councilwoman Margaret Wille, a Maui County Council incumbent, and likely others. However, the group has not disclosed its donors.

The ads against Margaret Wille, and promoting Ron Gonzales, point to her lack of support for farmers and farming on Hawaii Island. Nothing could be further from the truth. Councilwoman Wille is currently working to support every school garden in every public and charter school in her district.
I’m confident that Hawaii’s voters are more akamai than this campaign suggests.
