A Puna man has been charged with burglary in connection with an August break-in.

On Aug. 27, a 56-year-old Keaau woman reported that an unknown person went into her home and removed jewelry, according to the Hawaii Police Department. Police recovered surveillance video and identified 30-year-old Kawai Pomroy of Mountain View as a suspect.

Officers from the Area I Burglary Task Force arrested Pomroy on Monday at Hawaii Community Correctional Center, where he was being held for an unrelated incident. On Tuesday, he was charged with first-degree burglary. His bail was set at $25,000.

Pomroy made his initial court appearance Wednesday.
