The Underpants Run tradition continues into its 17th year. This year, the group is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing only underpants/knickers. The 1.5-mile course will start and finish in the back parking lot of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, where the Ironman banquets take place. The 140.6-mile journey begins in Kailua Bay at 6:25 a.m. with the male professional/elite athletes. The professional female field begins at 6:30 a.m., followed by the age-group male athletes at 6:50 and the age-group females at 7. The first finishers are expected around 2:30 p.m., and the race ends at midnight.
